Democrat Primary

Postby Cate McCalley » Thu Apr 30, 2015 2:17 pm

Bernie Sanders, the Independent Senator from Vermont, has publicy declared his bid to become the next U.S,A President.

He doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell, but I'm glad he has entered the race. He's a social democrat, that will run on the Democrat ticket. If by some miracle he gets the Democrat nomination (like if all of the party leaders and elected official convention delegates catch a fatal illness before the convention convenes), I would vote for him.

I like Bernie. His entering the race will be educational to those that don't know the Democrat Socialist platform. Maybe he will be able to bring enough pressure on the Hillary's camp to make them actually address our domestic and economic social issues, as well as foreign policy. As it is now, they think it's in the bag.

Who knows? If the 'vast conspirators' of the right wing are able to sling enough mud on the Hillary camp, Bernie just might get elected. Whoever heard of Senator Barack Obama before he made his run?

Legion, I would bet a penny to a Morgan Siver Dollar you know nothing about Bernie Sanders. My guess is you haven't looked beyond "he's a Democrat Socialist".

There have been about twenty people declared their candidacy for president, and I can't vote for any of them...

Capitalism is by far imperfect, Marxist systems are by far horrible. As they used to say in the old Soviet republics, neighbors goat too must die.

Democratic Socialist don't advocate eliminating Capitalism. Nor do they advocate instituting Communism. The old models of Socialism are not workable in a global environment ran by multi-national corporations, Democratic Socialist want workers that build the wealth to share a greater portion of it. They advocate unions, worker owned cooperatives, tax incentives for business growth, universal health care and education. They want a less centralized government that permits state and local governments more control over their communities and resources. They advocate for human rights, that include reproductive and gay rights. As it stands no real Democratic Socialist government exist. Although some Northern European countries have close models.

I know Sansers or anyone outside of mainstream Democrat/Republican ideology doesn't have a chance. I'm posting His views because I see him as the only honest man in the race so far. Most people equate Socialism with Communism, not knowing that Democratic Socialism is the worst critic of Communism.

I see America moving in the wrong direction. Reinforcing urban decay, denying Constitutional rights, diminishing worker rights, selling out to foreign trade, refusing immigration reform, all at the expense of the majority of our citizens. It's refreshing to hear a politician speak to the real issues of real Americans.

Many many reasons for Urban Decay. One reason, and I'm sure Cate will disagree is that the top 10 cities in America suffering from urban decay are heavily Democrat, and heavily black.
As for Constitution Rights I agree that we are losing them daily, and it started with the Patriot Act that GWB signed into law.
I disagree regarding workers rights. Many Federal laws are in place to protect workers.
Foreign trade is a big issue but NAFTA that Bill Clinton signed into law destroyed industry.
Immigration Reform you speak of is wanting to give someone who came to this country illegally citizenship.

Bernie is just what Hillary needed to look young and hip. What I find and and amusing is so many hard core lefties support Sanders. I find that odd and amusing because he is an old, rich white man. I thought all those things were anathema to the leftist? Am I missing something? I don't think he's a homosexual, so I don't know what is left to endear him to the hardcore left. :D

The only part Cate will agree with will be the Patriot Act.
