Danville, Ky. Hospital on Lockdown

Postby Cate McCalley » Sat Aug 01, 2015 9:56 pm

Ephraim McDowell Medical Center's ER is on lockdown tonight.

Patients are being turned away, directed to other medical facilities while the Medical Center's ER is on lockdown. The Hospital released a statement that the ER is on lockdown while evaluating a patient with a communicable illness that may pose a risk to the community. And that they are working with State and local officials and the Center for Disease Control.

Nothing released yet on the patient being evaluated, or the illness. All staff that had not had contact with the ER and patient were sent home around 7:00 PM tonight.

CNN reported that the patient arrived with sores much larger than traditional chicken pox, and the patient informed doctors of being out of the country recently.

I'm afraid if someone came into ARH with those sores they would send them home and tell them to see their regular doctor. At least this hospital was pro active and took precautions
