The Therapy Department in association with the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center would like to propose and initiate a united effort in support of the needy children of the local county elementary schools during the 2016/2017 year. The Family Resource Centers of James A. Cawood Elementary School and Cawood Elementary provide a weekend food bag/backpack for those children who may not have access to food sources during the weekend. We would like to assist them in their efforts to help our community children.
We will have a box located in the Activities room. This will allow staff and visitors an opportunity to help us in our endeavors. Below is a list of suggested items that are generally packed:
Beanie weenies (beans and franks)
Individual cups of chef boy ardee or mac & cheese
Individual cereal boxes
peanut butter crackers
** fruit cups and applesauce are not recommended as they are easily ruptured in the backpacks/bags
We want to encourage those who are able to pick up a little something extra when you are grocery shopping. Your help will be greatly appreciated. The items that are collected will be delivered to the schools on a monthly basis.
